Presentation
- Biocid plus tablet: Each chewable tablet contains dried Aluminium hydroxide BP gel equivalent to 400 mg of Aluminum oxide, Magnesium hydroxide BP 400 mg, and Simethicone USP 30 mg.
- Biocid plus suspension: Each 5 ml suspension contains dried Aluminium hydroxide BP gel equivalent to 200 mg Aluminum oxide, Magnesium hydroxide BP 400 mg, and Simethicone USP 30 mg.
- Biocide tablet: Each chewable tablet contains dried Aluminium hydroxide BP gel 250 mg and Magnesium hydroxide BP 500 mg.
- Biocid MH suspension: Each 5 ml suspension contains dried Aluminium hydroxide BP gel 175 mg and Magnesium hydroxide BP 400 mg.
Description
- Biocid is an antacid preparation. Biocid plus suspension is an antacid and antiflatulent preparation containing a combination of Aluminum Hydroxide, Magnesium Hydroxide, and Simethicone.
Indications and uses
Biocid tablet and suspension are indicated in the treatment of dyspepsia, hyperacidity, gastric and duodenal ulcer, and gastritis; Biocid plus suspension is indicated for the relief of flatulence, abdominal distention, and windy colic.
Dosage & administration
- Biocid tablet & Biocid plus tablet: 1 - 2 tablets to be chewed.
- Biocid MH suspension: 1 - 2 teaspoonful
- Biocid plus suspension: 1 - 2 teaspoonful
- Biocid should be taken one hour after and at bedtime or as directed by the physician.
Precautions
- Drugs containing Aluminum Hydroxide should not be taken concomitantly with any form of tetracyclines, as the absorption of the latter may be affected.
- Aluminum Hydroxide may also reduce the absorption of digoxin.
