Composition
Fivita Z Capsule: Each capsule contains Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose complex ph. grade equivalent to elemental Iron 47 mg, Folic Acid BP 0.5 mg, Thiamine Hydrochloride BP 5 mg, Riboflavin BP 2 mg, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride BP 2 mg, Nicotinamide BP 20 mg and Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate USP equivalent to elemental Zinc 22.5 mg.
Description
Iron (lll) Hydroxide Polymaltose provides an ideal preparation for all Iron deficiency anemias. It is rapidly absorbed with a high rate of Iron utilization and produces an effective increase in hemoglobin. Vitamin B complex is very important for various metabolic functions and fetus growth. Zinc is important for the activity of enzymes.
Indications
- Indicated for the prevention and treatment of deficiency of Iron, Folic Acid, Vitamin B-complex, and Zinc, especially during pregnancy and lactation.
Dosage and Administration
- One or two capsules daily or as directed by the physician.
Side Effects
Generally well tolerated. Occasionally gastrointestinal irritations, such as sensation of repletion, pressure in the epigastric region, nausea, itching, dizziness, constipation, or diarrhea can occur. A yellow-orange fluorescence or discoloration of the urine may occur.
Contraindications
Disturbances in Iron utilization (lead anemia), thalassemia. Hypersensitivity or intolerance to Iron and overloading of Iron in the body. Hypersensitivity to any of the components of this formulation.
Drug Interactions
As Iron Polymaltose is non-ionic in nature, no interaction has been found with other drugs or food. The zinc of this formulation may interfere with the absorption of fluoroquinolone antibiotics and Tetracycline. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors may cause Zinc depletion.
Precautions
As with all Iron preparations, a dark coloration of the stool may occur. This is without clinical significance. Caution should be taken before concurrent administration of this formulation with fluoroquinolones and Tetracycline.
Overdosage
No intoxication or Iron overloading has been reported in case of overdose. Higher doses of Nicotinamide may cause vomiting, and diarrhea. Sensory neuropathy was observed with the administration of more than 200 mg Pyridoxine for very long periods. High Zinc consumption may promote Copper deficiency due to the antagonistic relationship of these two minerals. No cases of Folic Acid overdosages have been reported.

- Store below 300 C, protected from light and dry places. Keep out of reach of children.
