Tiemonium methylsulfate
Composition :
- Relvis 50 mg Tablet: Each film-coated tablet contains Tiemonium methylsulfate INN 50 mg. Relvis Injection: Each 2 ml ampoule contains 5 mg of Tiemonium methylsulfate INN. Pharmacology:
- Tiemonium methylsulphate is a quaternary ammonium antimuscarinic agent with peripheral effect similar to those of atropine. Tiemonium methylsulphate strengthens calcium bonding with phospholipids and proteins thus stabilizing the cell membrane of the GI tract.
Indications:
- Tiemonium methylsulfate is an antispasmodic drug. It reduces muscle spasms in the intestine, biliary system, uterus & urinary bladder. It is indicated for the pain in gastrointestinal, biliary, urinary and gynaecological diseases such as gastroenteritis, and diarrhoea. dysentery, biliary colic, enterocolitis, cholecystitis, colonopathyes, mild cystitis & spasmodic dysmenorrhoea. Dosage and administration:
- A recommended oral dose of Tiemonium methylsulfate tablet is 2-6 tablets (100-300 mg) daily in divided doses the injectable dose is one or two Tiemonium methylsulfate Injections three times daily, through Intravenous route slowly or Intramuscular route.
Drug interaction:
- Tiemonium methylsulphate should not be used with other drugs without prior consult of a registered physician to avoid possible drug interaction.
Pregnancy:
- Tiemonium methylsulphate may be used in pregnancy only if it is clearly needed by the assessment of risk benefit ratio.
Nursing mother :
- Tiemonium methylsulfate may be used in lactating mothers only if it is clearly needed by the assessment of the risk-benefit ratio.
Paediatric use:
- The safety and effectiveness of Tiemonium methylsulfate in paediatric patients have not been established.
Geriatric use:
- Efficacy and safety were maintained with increasing age.
Side-effects:
- Side effect with the use of Tiemonium methylsulfate is very rare.
Contra-indications:
- Tiemonium methylsulphate should not be used in Glucoma or where acute
- pain of eyeball with vision disturbance was found. Also this drug should not be used in patients with the disorder of prostate of urinary bladder.
Overdose :
- There is not available data regarding the overdose of Tiemonium methyl sulphate.
Storage:
- Keep it in a cool and dry place protected from light and moisture.
- Relvis Tablet: Each box contains 5 × 10 tablets in a blister pack.
- Relvis Injection: Each box contains 2 x5 ml ampoules in blister pack.
